1A LawnCare Tips:

Winterize Your Property

Winter is on it's way, there is no way to avoid it short of picking up and moving to warmer climates. In addition to winterizing your house and car, winterizing your lawn and plantings is also important. Now is the time to drop some good fertilizers onto your lawn to insure a thick, greener carpet in the Spring. Got roses and delicate shrubs? Help them make it through the harsh winter temperatures with an extra blanket of insulating wood chips.

Want some fantastic blooms as soon as possible this spring to help ward off the winter blues? Plant your daffodils, tulips and crocus' now! After a winter of white and brown the bright purple of an early blooming snow crocus will do wonders for your state of mind.

Don't forget to take a moment to enjoy the changing leaves and the crisp fall air but once those leaves are on the ground the best thing you can do for your lawn is to get them cleaned up as soon as possible.

If the cleanup and planting is too much for you, we offer reasonable fall cleanups and can even get those daffodil bulbs settled into the garden for their long winters nap. Give us a call today and get your winterizing appointment scheduled today!

May Flowers

Naturalizing your lawn with some bulb plantings in the fall will give you a bright and cheery start to your spring, but what to do when those beautiful daffodil blooms are gone and your left with just the dying foliage? Well, you should be aware that trimming back your daffodil greenery could effect your future blooms, trim too soon and you may effect your next years blossoms. Be sure to let your bulbs greenery die and wilt completely before removing the leaves to insure a beautiful bloom again the following year.

Did you get greenery and no blooms this year? Again, let your greenery wilt completly and check that your bulbs are not crowding each other. If you suspect that your bulbs are over-crowded, either carefully dig under the bulbs and remove some and transplant elsewhere (do not water these newly transplanted bulbs until fall as overly wet conditions could cause them to rot) or mark the mass of bulbs and transplant the overcrowded bulbs this coming fall. Not quite sure what the problem may be? Give 1A Lawncare a call today for help with all your planting and lawncare needs.

Fall Cleanup

One of the most overlooked aspects of lawn care that will keep your lawn in peak condition is the Spring & Fall Cleanup.

By removing debris from your lawn before the winter snow starts to fly you will enable your lawn to recover more quickly when the weather begins to warm in the early Spring. This will ensure a healthier and greener lawn all summer long. This process should optimally be repeated in the spring to remove any litter and broken branches that may have accumulated during the winter.

Give your lawn a fighting chance next spring, give 1A LawnCare a call today and book your Fall Clean up!
